Security

Why does Astro need my Apple ID?

Your Apple ID is used only to authenticate Apple Search Ads.

Astro uses Apple Search Ads data to extract keyword popularity.

Apple Search Ads tokens have a limited lifespan, which is why Astro requires your Apple ID and an App-Specific Password to create a new session when needed.

Astro encrypts your credentials and stores it securely in your Mac’s keychain.

If you are concerned about security, you can create a new Apple ID specifically for Astro. To create a new Apple ID, follow the steps below.

  1. Create a new email address. You can create a new email address for free on Gmail.

  2. Create a new Apple ID and associate it with your new email account.

  3. Add the new account as a User in Apple Store Connect, clik on Users and Access, Users, All(in the right menu), Plus Button. Now add Name, Surename, the Email address previously created, Marketing as role and give access to at least one app, click on Invite.

  4. You will receive an email with an ivitation, click on Accept invitation.

  5. Access Apple Search Ads with your new Apple ID and create an account.

  6. Create a new app-specific password by logging in to appleid.apple.com.

  7. You are now ready to log in to Astro with your new Apple ID.
